Profile
Dr. Vu Tan Phuong has 30+ year working experience in the Vietnam and Mekong region. He obtained the Forestry University Degree in 1994, a Master of Forestry in 2002 from Vietnam Forestry University and a Ph.D. in Forestry from the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences in 2012. Much of his work has been dedicated to forest management, forest biomass and carbon stock assessment, REDD+, mitigation and adaptation to climate change and sustainable forest management. In the forestry sector of Vietnam, Dr. Phuong is a key person that develops the Vietnamese forest certification scheme (VFCS), its standards and guidelines for sustainable forests, REDD+ programs and the nationally determined contribution for LULUCF and climate change related policies. Dr. Phuong is now a director of the Vietnam Forest Certification Office which is authorized to operate VFCS and PEFC in Vietnam.
